Q: Tess, the little groundhog in your new picture book I Don’t Wanna Hibernate, just doesn’t want to go to sleep! Who/what/where inspired this sweet character?
ANNA: The main inspiration for this story was my kids. When they were little, they never wanted to go to bed and they would try everything to get out of bedtime. They would say things like "I'm not sleepy", "I need another bedtime story" or "My stuffed animals will be lonely if I go to sleep!"
Q: On Groundhog’s Day, will be you wishing for more winter or will you be ready for spring? Of all the seasons, which one is your fav?
ANNA: Although I have been enjoying the snow that falls on our area about once every 10 years, I am ready for spring. Spring is my favorite season and I'm always excited when it comes around again.
Q: I hear that you are a tongue-twister champ! What is the funniest, most challenging tongue-twister you know?
ANNA: So I know a bunch of tongue twisters, but my favorite is the one that relates to my book. Another name for a groundhog is a woodchuck, so I like the tongue twister: "How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"
